Let’s say you’re looking for memorable fall color, but you can’t head too far from town. Lucky for you there are few more picturesque spots than downtown Redmond, which comes alive each October with vibrant reds, oranges and yellows.
Need an excuse to make the trek to Redmond? Check out the event schedule below, which includes two harvest-related locales that are annual destinations for many Central Oregonians.
Oct 1-31: D&D Ranch Pumpkin Patch. Hunt for your own pumpkin or just explore the ranch. Fridays-Sundays, the DD Ranch offers hayrides, pony rides & a petting zoo, plus hamburgers and hot dogs with homemade potato chips. Oct. 1-31: Central Oregon Pumpkin Company. Navigate the “Jurassic Ranch” Corn Maize, visit the pumpkin patch, take a wagon ride, check out the pumpkin cannon or ride the zoo train. 1250 NE Wilcox Ave., Terrebonne. 541-504-1414.
Oct. 21: Downtown Pub Crawl. The Route: Rumors at 5 pm (drawing at 5:30); Cafe Alfresco at 5:45 (drawing at 6:15; Avery’s at 6:30 (drawing at 7 pm); Cross Creek at 7:15 (drawing at 7:45): 7th Street at 8 pm (drawing at 8:30); Brickhouse at 8:45 (drawing at 9:15): Rumors for an after-party at 9:30. Oct. 22-23: Central Oregon Women’s Expo. Designed by women for women, with more than 130 vendors, speakers, entertainment and a bachelor auction. Auction proceeds benefit Grandma’s House. Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center, Redmond. 541-385-7988.
Oct. 30: Howl-O-Ween. Humane Society of Redmond’s four-legged Halloween Party. Pet Photos, Dog Costume Contest, Old Fashioned Cup Cake Walk, Best Dog Trick Contest, Best Dog Smile & Tail Wag Contest and Fun Dog Games. Location: 1355 NE Hemlock Ave. Noon-3 pm. 541-923-0882.
