With Independence Day falling on a Wednesday this year, we have almost a full week of  Fourth of July-related festivities.  Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening in Central Oregon.

Bend’s Old-Fashioned July 4th Festival & Pet Parade: Children of all ages bring their special pet (dogs, llamas, horses, lizards, goats & lots of stuffed animals) to parade through downtown Bend. Decorating & lineup: 9:30am; parade begins at 10 am. Festival features craft & food booths, old-fashioned games (3-legged races, watermelon eating, water balloon contests) from 11 am-4 pm at Drake Park. Sponsored by Bend Pet Express. 541-389-7275.
Sound Fourth Concert: 75-member Cascade Horizon Band & 70-member Festival Chorus perform an inspirational concert, with patriotic songs, Americana music, Broadway hits & a sing-along.Free; barbecue follows (also free). 3 pm at Bend High School. 541-383-6290.

Bend Fireworks: Launched from the top of Pilot Butte, 10 pm. Free.
Redmond Fourth of July Parade: 10 a.m. Sixth Street from Dogwood to Forest.
Redmond’s FreedomFest in the Park: Games & activities for the kids, live music by 41 East, power breaking by The Freedom Team Power Explosion, free hot dogs & drinks. 11 am-2 pm, Sam Johnson Park (SW 15th & SW Canyon). Hosted by Calvary Chapel Redmond. 541-923-8614.
Redmond’s Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration:  Potato sack races, archery, 3-point shoot-outs, pie-eating contest, water-balloon toss, square dancers, live music, concessions, beer garden & more. 1-9 pm (live music at 7:30); fireworks at 10 pm. Sisters Fourth of July Picnic in the Park benefiting Habitat for HumanitySisters Picnic in the Park & Recycle Run: 8k/5k run/walk from Sisters Athletic Club to Creekside Park (registration 7-8 am). Occasion of Honor for all veterans at 11 am; picnic at noon, featuring live music, games, food vendors, pie contest, silent auction & more. 11 am-3 pm at Creekside Park.
